Large roller band hinges for Plastic profiles

With four versions, the door hinge specialist from Mönchengladbach, Dr. Hahn, is offering door manufacturers a range that complements the existing hinge program and is thus similar to the range of roller hinges in aluminum. Under the names Hahn KT-RV and Hahn KT-RN, 2- and 3-piece versions are being introduced for common plastic profile systems. 

In particular, the design with a slim button of 22 mm diameter looks simultaneously strong and elegant. This impression is reinforced by further color choices such as silver anodized (EV1). The new roller-band hinges are used particularly in high-quality private new construction and project construction as well as in the renovation sector. They can be used either DIN left or DIN right.

Slim, stable and 3D adjustable

The biggest leap in design is the new Hahn KT-RV, which replaces the previous KT-R door hinge fixed in the hardware groove. In addition to a modern contour, the new variant can now be adjusted in six directions without any visible displacement of the knot. The door is + 3 /-1 mm adjustable in height with two-piece hinges and even + 3 /-3 mm with three-piece hinges. Horizontally, the adjustment possibilities are + 3 /-3 mm. The adjustment is, of course, stepless. By turning the bearing bush, the sealing pressure can be adjusted by +/- 0.5 mm (three-piece +/- 0.4 mm). Depending on the system profile used, the two-piece version carries 120 kg and the three-piece version 160 kg.

Universal for many profile variations

Mounting is still done with system-adapted mounting plates for the standard widths of the so-called Euro-groove of 16 mm and 20 mm, and there are a large number of system-adapted adapter plates. For manual assembly, a new drilling jig has been developed with which drill holes in frame and sash can be accurately positioned. For fast and convenient processing, door manufacturers can order an automatically adjustable drilling jig bar from their dealers. 

Effectively close

Manufacturers of plastic doors have hinges that are attached in the overlap where one does not interrupt the outer seal. The new Hahn KT-RN in the 3-piece version now brings more power to the door. Depending on the profile system, the load capacity is 160 kg! 

The series is complemented by a 2-piece series of hinges with a load capacity of 120 kg that is also screwed into the overlay. 

The trend in tread systems is moving more toward straight lines. This also affects the geometry of tires, which can now be bolted on with a high degree of straightness. Connections to contours with a sloping contact surface have therefore been dropped and are only exceptionally supplied.

The door wing is adjustable in 6 directions : 

- in height + 3 / -3 mm (2-part -1 mm);

- horizontally +3 /- 3 mm infinitely variable at positioned sash;

- tightening by + 0.5 /- 0.4 mm (2-part +/- 0.5 mm) by turning the bearing bush. In the standard range, overlap ranges from 16.5 mm to 26 mm are served.

Certified

All hinges are designed for doors in single and multi-family houses but can also be used without any problem in project construction - as per regulations. The 2-piece KT-RV hinge as well as the KT-RN hinges (2-piece and 3-piece) are classified in hinge class 14 on the basis of the CE verification according to standard EN 1935:2002. The 3-piece KT-RV hinge is classified in hinge class 11. Burglary resistance tests are still in progress. However, the manufacturer assumes that these hinges will also pass these demanding tests, since extensive tests have already been carried out in the internal test laboratory.

Service package for trade

The extruded aluminum hinges are delivered both in individual packages and in industrial packaging of 24 pieces. Dr. Hahn offers its logistics partners comprehensive item data upon request, allowing them to quickly populate their merchandise management and PIM systems. In addition, images and assembly instructions are available to launch these roller band hinges. The hinges have been available since July 2021.
