Lock manufacturer and developer of access control systems FUHR Benelux developed several innovative products such as automatic, panic and motor locks in recent years. For example, the new lock series 835 was recently introduced. "The locks are very widely applicable," he said.

In 2008, FUHR launched the 833 auto-locking multi-point lock on the market. Since then, the hardware specialist has further developed this lock into a new generation of locks: the 835 autosafe DuoSecure series. Martijn van Dort, managing director FUHR Benelux: "We have increased the burglar resistance of both the locks for plastic, wooden and aluminum doors. The lock can be unlocked by handle or cylinder. Optionally, the lock can be expanded with a motor."
The DuoSecure technology has a special combination of automatic pin/hook latch. Because the lap and swivel hook are activated in two stages, the latch is always in position. When the door is closed, the magnet in the locking plate/frame causes the upper and lower latch to come out automatically and are blocked against pushback. Actuation of the key pushes out the deadbolt. Unlocking is also simple: the dead bolt is turned back with the key and then one can use the door handle or the key to retract all the bolts.
Product manager Marco Pels: "These locks are very versatile. We supply them as standard locks or anti-panic locks, for single doors and for double doors. They are suitable for both residential and commercial buildings. The fact that we sell the motor separately, though, is unique."
The advantage of this is that door manufacturers have more control over their inventory. They can keep both the locks and the motor in stock and then see what the customer wants on a project-by-project basis. Pels: "This series had already been available for wooden doors for a while and at the PolyClose trade fair we introduced the version for plastic doors. The first quarter of 2023 we expect to be able to deliver the model for aluminum doors as well."
The 835 series can be paired with all of FUHR's Smart Connect systems. It is a complete and round program. Pels: "This makes us unique in the market. The locks have all the functionalities, as people have come to expect from us, and all on one standard milling size."
At the beginning of November, FUHR Benelux will participate in the HoutPro+ trade fair in the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch. Van Dort: "At this fair we will show the 835 program, for both the Dutch and Belgian markets. We have a complete program for both obtuse and overlap doors. If necessary, we can also supply an extension for extra high doors up to a maximum of four meters." Pels adds: "We are also at this fair with our various modules in electronic access control. In this, many new products are still on the way, which we are bringing to market in phases."
FUHR, like every manufacturer today, is also dealing with the consequences of the scarcity of materials. Nevertheless, all locks are readily available. Van Dort: "Our locks are made of steel, zinc and stainless steel and we are therefore somewhat affected by the pricing of these materials. But the availability is fine, so we have invested heavily in that."
