The most important part of the escape route is the emergency or escape door; the point where everyone should be able to get out safely and without obstacles. "Panic hardware above all has to be functional and reliable," says Jeffrey Koetsier, Purchaser & Product Manager at Dulimex B.V. "And that doesn't always have to be pretty, as long as it works. But in some buildings the eye wants something too, and the DX 5 series of panic hardware fulfills that perfectly."
The DX 500 series of anti-panic hardware combines the creation of a safe escape function with aesthetic and durable aspects. In addition to the standard red-black color scheme, as many as 16 RAL colors can be selected. Combined with the slim main and end boxes and pullman locks, this greatly benefits the door frame and allows the emergency exit to match the rest of the interior. In addition, the spring-loaded mechanism of the pullman locks ensures a smoothly operating closure, which has a positive effect on the service life of the hardware.
Each situation requires a specific approach to escape route technology, Koetsier says. "No two buildings have exactly the same escape route and no two escape routes have exactly the same door. The DX 5 series panic hardware responds to this nicely. It is available as 1-, 2- or 3-point locking with a choice of types with top, bottom and side latches, and the slim head and end housings mean that the hardware can be installed on frames as small as
40 mm wide. So there is always a suitable type to be found."
"In the decision-making about and inspection of escape routes, there are considerable differences of opinion nationwide as to what is good and what is not. We speak from experience when we say that there are sometimes double standards when it comes to the application and regulations surrounding panic hardware," Jeffrey Koetsier continues "In some cases this results in an unsafe escape route which can lead to potentially dangerous situations."
Dulimex offers personal advice and project support through its own specialist escape route technology. Together with the customer, he identifies what is needed in the specific situation in accordance with laws and regulations.
Koetsier: "We provide advice and support based on photos sent to us. For large and extra complex projects, we take a look at the project in order to coordinate the anti-panic hardware to be used on site with contractors or the installation company. Our services and support are aimed at giving our customers the best possible advice in the preliminary phase. Because, in the end, it's all about one thing: making the people in the building feel safe by setting up a safe escape route."
Dulimex offers a complete solution for escape routes; from the anti-panic hardware to emergency exit protection against improper use. The total DX line of panic hardware is a proprietary brand of Dulimex.
Koetsier: "In addition to the DX 5 series, we have the DX 7 series, where regulations on burglar resistance and escape safety come together, and the robust DX 2 series, which offers a secure solution in locations where 'lout-proof' hardware is important. For each series, optional hardware is also available such as emergency exit protection against improper use and knob and handle sets for outside access. In short, a total solution for emergency exits," concludes Jeffrey Koetsier.
