That is why roof safety is essential.

It is not without reason that more and more clients are demanding that the use of ladders be restricted. Incorrect positioning of the ladder, loss of balance, or frequent movement can lead to unsafe working conditions and reduced productivity. This calls for an ergonomic and user-friendly product that reduces physical strain, increases safety, and boosts productivity.

Accidents

As an employee in the construction sector, you work in a dynamic workplace. There are many other employees working around you and there is a lot going on. It is therefore important that you are aware of what is happening around you. Do you see any danger or health risks? If so, stop what you are doing and inform your manager.

You can also contribute to your own safety and health. Are you working at height? Then do so in the correct manner. In the construction industry, working at height poses the greatest risk of a serious accident at work. Every day in the Netherlands, workers fall from steps, ladders, scaffolding, construction lifts, or other heights. Often with lasting consequences.

Working safely at height

More than a quarter of accidents (27%) are caused by falls. And that number is rising. These are serious figures. If you are going to be working at height, good preparation is important. Here are a few tips:

Discuss the measures with your manager (or client) before you start. Never walk on a floor that is not secured. This also applies to walking on a roof. After all, you must be able to carry out the work in a stable, safe, and healthy manner. Employers and clients are therefore legally obliged to take safety measures when there is a risk of falling from a height of 2.50 meters. This includes mobile fall protection, but also collective, permanent protection such as (roof) edge protection. Professional providers of fall protection, such as Eye-catching fall protection, offer several options to ensure safety when working at height. If you need to climb, use a ladder or staircase and never use anything that is not intended for this purpose. Make sure that the ladder extends at least one meter above the walkable floor and that it cannot slide away. Working at height is not something you do without careful consideration. Good preparation is very important. Consult the Health and Safety Catalog for the correct working method.
