Those who want to remain responsive to increasingly stringent security requirements must continually invest in developing new solutions, but equally in conducting tests. Thus, during the latest fire test, Xinnix launched the first magnetic anti-panic lock with EI130 certification. This means that the lock complies with all fireproof standards for Belgium, which can also be used throughout Europe. In this world first, safety and aesthetics go hand in hand.
Xinnix designs, creates and manufactures patented door systems, which are completely flush with the wall: no visible frame nor hinges or other unevenness to be seen. "We supply systems for ordinary swing doors, but also fire-resistant and acoustic doors as well as sliding doors - standard or customized - for both contemporary, sleek interiors and modern rural environments in homes and apartments, as well as for integration in office buildings and other projects," says managing director Chris Vermeulen. "They consist of pre-painted aluminum frames and come standard with a rubber seal, invisible 3D adjustable Xinnix hinges and a magnetic lock."
Xinnix invests heavily in the development of new innovative systems and the optimization of existing products. It is not just a matter of delivering aesthetic products, they must also meet the necessary requirements, for example in terms of safety, fire resistance and acoustics. In recent years, for example, substantial investments have been made in various tests for certified doors for fire-resistant and acoustic applications.
The company obtained certification (EI1 30) for fire-resistant interior doors up to 3 meters high in combination with a wide variety of door hardware, making it possible to use any type of invisible door closer in combination with anti-panic locks, multi-point locks or electric locks. In addition, the hardware underwent durability tests with cycles of 200,000 opening and closing movements.
The direction of escape determines the choice of lock, not the direction of rotation of the door.
"During our last test in September, we successfully tested a double fire door for 45 minutes (EI145). In that door combination, we also tested a magnetic anti-panic lock, a type of lock aimed primarily at public buildings, hotels, hospitals, .... This lock unlocks a completely closed door in case of panic by using the door handle," explained Vermeulen. "This anti-panic lock was tested in a double Xinnix door and can therefore be used for both single and double fire and non-fire doors. It is immediately the first magnetic anti-panic lock worldwide with EI130 certification, which combines the aesthetics of magnetic locks with safety for panic situations. After all, a safe solution may also look attractive and elegant."
Xinnix keeps the locks, fitted with a stainless steel front plate, in stock. Choosing such a lock requires some thought. An order for the correct lock is determined by the direction of escape (Type A or Type B according to drawing) and not by the direction of rotation of the door. In the direction of escape you can have a door turning to the left or to the right. The direction of escape indicates the side where the handle unlocks the lock completely. In order for the lock to function, the door needs a handle with split handle pin or a fixed knob-lever combination with change pin. These are supplied to order by Xinnix.
