For the realization of 'De Boterton', a brand new residential concept with 72 apartments along the banks of the Nete in Lier, main contractor DCA called on Aliplast Aluminium Systems from Lokeren. Through vertical integration, the company has been developing and producing aluminum systems for exterior joinery for more than 35 years, extruding, powder-coating and insulating the aluminum profiles itself. Partner Peter Moeskops bvba handled the fabrication and installation of the window elements and, like Aliplast 100 %, works in-house. Jourik Duwez, sales manager at Aliplast, and Jelle Moeskops, responsible for the daily management at Peter Moeskops, explain the realization of this residential project.
"For us, the Boterton is a prime example of the kind of projects we prefer to focus on," says Jourik Duwez. "We manufactured a large number of identical windows in the same color and with the same profile depths. Our STAR75 system, a burglar-proof aluminum window system that flawlessly combines sleek design with high-performance thermal insulation for low-energy homes, meets today's energy requirements and respects all acoustic values. Of course, we kept a close eye on the timing so that our customer Peter Moeskops could produce and install the window elements on time."
The icing on the cake? That's the fact that the STAR75 system received Cradle to Cradle certification, emphasizes Jourik Duwez. "For us, this is the ultimate confirmation that our sustainable initiatives are appreciated by both our b2b customers and the end users of our products. Because we produce everything ourselves and do not depend on suppliers, our customer was able to produce five hundred aluminum windows and doors of four different types for the five blocks of De Boterton in less than a month."
Jelle Moeskops adds: "A large part of the windows had to be installed before the facade was in place. We correctly aligned the brackets, on which we placed the windows, and started gluing on the EPDM sealing strips, a kind of rubber strip to seal the windows in a durable way. In this way, the finishing touches could already be started inside the building while the masons were still busy outside. Of course, it is a lot easier to work when the outer shell is already there. Then you only have to place the windows against the shell, so to speak. Thanks to a well thought-out plan of action, we succeeded in our plan. An additional advantage is that The Boterton consists of five different residential blocks, which allowed us to conveniently respond to the progress of each individual unit."
