Record turnout for theme day 'Full throttle for gasless: FACT or FICTION?

Ventilation manufacturer Duco's theme day "Full throttle for gasless: FACT or FICTION?" turned into a record-breaking event last Wednesday. No fewer than 250 innovators and frontrunners met during the theme day to shape the real estate world of tomorrow. The entire Dutch housing stock must be off the gas. A substantial task for which cooperation and knowledge sharing are essential.

On Wednesday, June 12, prescribers, VVEs, corporations and installers made their way to the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht for what promised to be a high-profile afternoon. The starting point was sustainable heating. Weather forecaster Helga van Leur, heating consultant Rob Verbrugge and technical-commercial consultant at Duco Joy den Hartog addressed this topical issue in an engaging manner.

Practical Tips
Helga van Leur kicked off the theme day. Using practical tips, Helga taught the audience how to achieve sustainability in buildings. Thinking ahead is important. We all want to be safe and survive. So we must ensure that the earth is preserved for future generations. No more "yes buts," but "okay, how then?" Helga also told the audience about rethinking: thinking in terms of opportunities and not problems.

Sustainable heating
Heat consultant Rob Verbrugge talked about the comfort of low-temperature floor heating. According to Rob, the industry conveniently assumes that we know what consumers find comfortable. With the improved insulation, the heat load of homes is lower and therefore could actually be heated with a smaller capacity. LT underfloor heating will have to realize a new dimension. Perhaps floor heating will have to tilt toward wall heating, the inertia caused by the floor mass will have to be removed, or combinations of part floor and part other delivery systems will have to emerge.

Heat Pumps
Last to speak was Joy den Hartog, technical-commercial consultant at Duco. Den Hartog stated that residential construction is going to and needs to change. In the short term, the BENG requirements will apply; in the longer term, there is the requirement for energy-neutral construction. Meanwhile, discussions such as #VanGasLos and indoor air quality are still in play. All these developments are irrevocably going to lead to changes in housing construction, with heavy reliance on new techniques such as sustainable heat pumps.
