Powerful ERP software for the facade builder

Powerful ERP software for the facade builder

Enterprise Resource Planning is a wonderful tool for organizations and companies to work more efficiently and as a tool for management to understand and get a grip on work processes. ERP software is therefore finding increasing acceptance. And there are also more and more providers of ERP packages. This makes it difficult to choose.

Profity is also a supplier of ERP packages. Originally this Rijssen-based company was only active in steel construction, from there the company developed software for facade construction and became a specialist for the facade sector. Recently, with the acquisition of a specialized software company, the precast concrete sector was added as a focus area.

Force

Focus on the target group is also Profity's strength. Sales consultant Bert-Jan Haarkamp:
"We focus only on project-based companies in facade, concrete and steel construction. Our people specialize in this, our software is developed on it, and that is our strength. Packages made for applications in manufacturing, services and non-profit are far too complex and bulky. We focus on a manageable target group and for that we deliver customized solutions."

All-in system for the facade builder

With Profity's specific ERP software, a facade builder can control and direct the entire (production) process of a project from quotation phase to production in detail. How does that work?

Haarkamp: "Most of the companies we visit still work with separate programs. Excel lists, an estimation package, the word processor for the quotations, an accounting program, an ordering system, all parts that do not communicate with each other. This results in an enormous loss of time and the risk of errors is considerable. We replace that with one system. In it you make quotations, budgets and order confirmations, manage relationships and arrange work preparation. In addition, you can organize and plan purchasing, digitize purchasing documents, create hourly, daily and weekly schedules, register hours, do post-calculation on hours and materials, send invoices, manage tools and register failure costs. Everything hangs together, everything works in the same language and the chance of errors is very small."

"Once a company has mastered the ERP system, it possesses a formidable tool to make processes more efficient and keep costs in check. In addition, the system is easily linked to estimating software such as LogiKal and design programs such as Autocad and Revit. In addition, products from system suppliers such as Alcoa, ODS and Schüco can be read in quickly."

To a higher level

When you read what ERP software can and does, you also realize that implementing it has a big impact on an organization. Haarkamp: "You should indeed not underestimate that. First of all, it means a large investment in time and energy. The ERP system affects the entire organization and in that respect we actually have the role of a business consultant who, together with the client, examines the entire business process and redesigns it where necessary. This is how you take the company to the next level. So that is something different from buying a software package. The implementation is also a process in itself. For a facade builder, we spend twenty to thirty days installing a complete ERP package and teaching the employees how to work with it, depending on the size of the company and the amount of modules they took."

And the result? Haarkamp: "Our ERP system really gives the company more control over its logistical, administrative and financial processes. That is very valuable. Our experience shows that the most profit is gained from the new insights into the work in progress. This is where the most failure costs often arise with the passing of lists and miscommunication. We can create various dashboards for the customer that give them insight into those key processes. And thus, for example, eliminate unnecessary losses in work in progress. We are now in the process of making functionalities from the concrete construction software also available to the facade builders, which will give us an even more powerful total solution for the customer. In concrete construction, we can already control production with BIM from a 3D model, in facade construction this does not yet happen."
