Pilkington Netherlands, part of the NSG Group, is proud to introduce HomeComfort™: a new brand concept that gives glass an active role in comfort, energy, and experience. This name encompasses innovative glass applications that contribute to smart, comfortable, and sustainable living—from heat and sun protection to acoustic comfort.
With HomeComfort™, Pilkington Netherlands is taking the next step in the development of functional glass. Whereas glass has traditionally been used to protect against wind, rain, and cold, HomeComfort™ demonstrates that it can also contribute to the indoor climate.
“Glass is no longer a passive building component, but a fully-fledged part of smart living,” says Martijn Rietveld, Commercial Manager at Pilkington Netherlands. “With HomeComfort™, we want to show how glass itself can actively contribute to comfort and energy efficiency in residential construction.”
The product line includes applications that all share one goal: optimizing the indoor climate without compromising on aesthetics or sustainability. The first products—HeatComfort™ and LuxComfort™—are now being used successfully in various residential projects.

HeatComfort™ is heated insulating glass that uses the electrically conductive NSG TEC™ coating. This technology tackles heat loss at the source, preventing cold spots near the window. It provides pleasant, even infrared heat that feels natural. It also eliminates the need for traditional radiators in conservatories or kitchen-diners, for example, increasing the usable living space. The solution combines comfort and sustainability without compromising on aesthetics or space.
With LuxComfort™, Pilkington Netherlands introduces integrated sun control in insulating glass. Maintenance-free blinds are located between the glass panes and can be operated electrically or wirelessly. This keeps the interior cool in summer and light in winter. By linking to home automation systems, residents can automatically adjust sun protection, light incidence, and privacy to suit their daily routine—for a pleasant and energy-efficient living environment.
The development of HomeComfort™ continues apace. In early 2026, Pilkington Netherlands will launch DynamicComfort™: electrochromic glass that changes tint under electrical voltage. The subtle coloring provides adaptive sun protection with high daylight transmission and a neutral light experience. In addition, work is underway on SilenceComfort™, glass with active sound insulation that neutralizes sound waves and thus creates peace and quiet in urban living environments.
Balance between comfort and sustainability (see * for international paragraph where there is no TO-July requirement as in the Netherlands)
All HomeComfort™ applications are available in double or triple glazing and comply with TOjuli legislation, which helps prevent overheating in well-insulated homes. The technologies are in line with the NSG Group's makechange™ sustainability vision, in which energy efficiency, comfort, and aesthetics go hand in hand. Pilkington Nederland thus offers glass solutions that contribute both to living comfort and to tomorrow's climate goals.
Anyone who wants to experience the possibilities of HomeComfort™ is welcome to visit the new Experience Center.
Center in Gildehaus (Germany) – part of Pilkington Netherlands“ recently opened production facility where innovations are tested and applied. Here, all HomeComfort™ applications can be seen in realistic facade settings. ”Architects and partners can literally feel what it does and experience the reflection and color perception,“ says Rietveld. ”We demonstrate the possibilities live, provide support during the design and installation phases, and are open to new ideas from the market."
With HomeComfort™, Pilkington Netherlands is positioning itself emphatically as an innovative partner in smart living. It marks the beginning of a new phase in which glass not only lets in light, but also actively contributes to comfort, energy, and experience.
