PAVATEXTIL P: FROM OLD JEANS TO SUSTAINABLE INSULATION MATERIAL

A pair of jeans pants or vest protects you from the cold, but did you know that you can also use this type of textile to insulate homes? Of course, there is little point in lining homes with jeans, but PAVATEXTIL P, a high-quality insulation material made of recycled jeans fabric, does have excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. This material is currently manufactured in France in a special pilot process and is already available in Belgium. JEANS ARE A BIG POLLUTER

Jeans are made from cotton, a very thirsty and intensive crop. Then the fabric is treated with numerous dye products, as this type of textile is very difficult to absorb dyes. To make one pair of jeans, it takes as much as 7,000 gallons of water. So denim is incredibly taxing for the environment. 

It is therefore very unfortunate when old jeans end up in landfills. That is why SOPREMA invested in a technique to transform denim and other used textiles into a high-quality and environmentally friendly insulation material. 

THE PROPERTIES OF PAVATEXTIL P

The old jeans fabrics are collected and then frayed by a French recycling company. This allows the cotton fibers to serve as the basis for a new insulation product. The result is a soft material that protects against both the cold in winter and the heat in summer. Moreover, PAVATEXTIL P also insulates acoustically and does not lose its insulating capacity over time. The product naturally regulates the humidity in the home while maintaining its initial thickness. 

PAVATEXTIL P PLACES

PAVATEXTIL P is very light and is therefore easy to place. You can easily cut the product without irritation to the eyes, skin or mucous membranes. The material adapts flexibly to the support structure and is the ideal base for any of our vapor barriers.
