'Infinitely beautiful metal' reads the cover of the book Façades 2023. The fifteenth edition of the annual publication of the VMRG, the trade association for metal facade construction, has been published. 'Beautiful' refers to the beautiful facades of recently completed buildings featured in the book. 'Infinite' stands for the metal. After their long life, the facade materials aluminum and steel for 100% can be infinitely recycled. This results in enormous energy savings and the material retains its quality. Thus, metal remains infinitely beautiful.
Frederik Vermeesch, creatief directeur bij Rijnboutt, mocht het allereerste exemplaar van het boek in ontvangst nemen uit handen van Henk Zoontjens, directeur bij de VMRG. Quartz, één van de twee woongebouwen van Q Residences in Amsterdam Buitenveldert, is te bewonderen op de cover van Façades 2023. Rijnboutt vervulde de rol van co-architect bij de realisatie van dit prestigieuze project. Dit in samenwerking met het Amerikaanse architectenbureau Studio Gang, dat verantwoordelijk is voor het ontwerp. Vermeesch: “Wij delen het hoge ambitieniveau van Kroonenberg Groep, de opdrachtgever van dit project. De hoge kwaliteit komt tot uiting in zowel de technische detaillering en uitvoering als in de toegepaste, hoogwaardige materialen en producten.”
Façades 2023 bestaat uit 224 pagina’s met uiteenlopende gevelbouwprojecten waar VMRG bedrijven bij betrokken zijn geweest. Het boek is ingedeeld in utiliteitsbouw-, woningbouw- renovatie- en transformatie-, en zonweringsprojecten. Bij elk project staat aangegeven of het project onder het VMRG Keurmerk gerealiseerd is. Alle bedrijven met dit keurmerk leveren gegarandeerde kwaliteit op het gebied van gevels. Zij worden hierop regelmatig gekeurd, zowel in de fabriek als op de bouwplaats. De Europese aanbestedingsrichtlijnen bieden ruimte om het VMRG Keurmerk voor te schrijven in een bestek. Elk bedrijf met het VMRG Keurmerk krijgt, nadat de keuringen positief verlopen zijn, jaarlijks een VMRG Keurmerk certificaat uitgereikt, zodat een opdrachtgever er zeker van is dat het bedrijf voldoet aan de hoge standaard van de VMRG Kwaliteitseisen en Adviezen.
Between the different categories of projects, the book includes a number of articles. In these, 'infinitely beautiful metal' takes center stage. In an interview, for example, VMRG director Henk Zoontjens sees 'freedom of form' as the main advantage of metal. Aluminum is also put in the spotlight in a special way and it is explained how the plans for a Circular Facade Economy, an initiative of the VMRG, can be rolled out.
The book is also online view. The online version contains links for each project to more information about the project and about the company that was involved in that project.
