Specifications must be clear and complete, which is why it is important that specifications are drawn up according to a recognizable specification system. To this end, Reynaers Aluminium developed a new specification service: cutlery.reynaers.co.uk.
''We want to properly and fully support architects, designers and specifiers,'' Bart Hellings, Head of Project Team at Reynaers Aluminium, tells us enthusiastically. ''This is why we developed a new specification generator in collaboration with Bouwconnect - De Twee Snoeken. The input from this generator, together with any technical description, forms the basis of a project's specifications.''
Operation is as you would expect from a modern tool: simple and intuitive. ''The use actually requires no explanation,'' Hellings said. ''Via a simple selection structure, a complete specification can be put together. Of course, specific systems or requirements can be included. Choose the desired design type, Uf value, water tightness or air permeability and the specifications are automatically built. And of course, the specifications can then be easily downloaded as a text file or Stabu SUF.''
Research among architects showed that people nowadays consult the supplier's website first in search of information, Hellings answers the question of why the choice was made to have its own specification service. He adds: ''This not only applies to specification texts, but also to BIM and DWG files, for example. We also provide this at Reynaers Aluminium. We provide support in every project phase.''
''A good architectural specification, for example, is essential when tendering for a project. Only then can you make correct comparisons and avoid comparing apples to oranges,'' Hellings concludes.
