New standard is set
'There's a lid for every pot' - so the saying goes. Actually, the same applies to elumatec, where a suitable machining center is available for a wide variety of applications. After all, the company is one of the world's leading manufacturers of machines for machining aluminum, plastic and steel profiles. The drive for innovation is one of the cornerstones of its success. Today, with the SBZ 155, the SBZ 125/85 and the SBZ 118, the machine builder is once again introducing several innovative systems, all eluCloud Ready for the requirements of Industry 4.0.
As the first 5-axis gantry machine, the SBZ 155 profile machining center sets a new standard in automated CNC machining of aluminum and thin-walled steel profiles.
Users benefit from short tool change times that guarantee optimal machining cycles.
"The large, mobile tool magazines can be equipped with 14 standard tools. In addition, depending on the individual configuration, 6 special tools and 2 saw blades with a diameter of 200 and 550 mm can also be provided," says Bas Ladestein, managing director of elumatec Benelux BV.
"The version as a gantry machine and the working area with two machining zones allow the feeding and machining of profiles with cross sections up to 1000 x 380 mm, as well as flexible working in a shuttle operation. Six-sided machining and the space-saving gantry drive are two important features. As for individual customer requirements, no wishes remain unfulfilled: from bilateral automatic length measurement, tool length measurement and tool breakage control to the barcode scanner."
The SBZ 125/85 profile machining center is an enclosed cab machine with an eight-meter working length and five CNC axes, which can replace two smaller machines through dynamic shuttle operation. Elumatec took customer feedback into account to optimize ergonomics, accessibility and setup times. The machining of aluminum, plastic and thin-walled steel profiles thus becomes even more cost-effective and rational.
"This machining center has a milling range of 8245 mm on the X axis, 300 mm on the Y axis and 230 mm on the Z axis. It is equipped with a milling spindle with a speed of up to 20000 rpm and an automatic magazine with 12 positions. The material clamp automatically switches between the loading and machining positions," explains the managing director.
"Such cab machines are popular because they block chips and reduce noise. The new rotary control console, technology for faster tool changes and the flexibly programmable laser for monitoring the safety zone during machine operation are additional features that make this SBZ 125/85 another important addition to our portfolio."
Elumatec is also thinking of start-ups or smaller manufacturing companies. After all, they are often looking for a small and compact system with all the necessary functionalities for their applications, preferably at lower entry costs. With the innovative SBZ 118 3-axis profile machining center with optional 5-sided machining, elumatec perfectly meets this need. This extremely compact system has a machining length of 3200 mm, a milling range of 230 mm and 230 mm in Y- and Z-axis respectively, and is equipped with a spindle with an output of 5 kW and a speed of up to 24,000 rpm. Even at high speeds, accurate machining remains guaranteed.
"Although this machine has a minimal footprint, it still provides full functionality for milling, drilling, tapping and roughing. Automated CNC machining is performed up to five sides with an optional right-angle milling head and an end mill," adds Bas Ladestein.
"The proven technology of the inclined machine bed, the freely accessible spindle, the height-adjustable control console and the mobile 5-fold tool changer increase comfort. The new transparent protective cover and operation of the material clamps via a wireless push button ensure safe operation at all times, even for larger machine operators. A service door on the side facilitates setup and maintenance of the machine."
