At Kruba in Baarn, they are looking positively at the year ahead. Of course the challenges in construction are not trivialized but Cees and Niels van Essen are still convinced that the economic stirrings in the chain remain. “For example, the subsidy opportunities for renovation have been maintained in 2026, we all seem to be catching up in terms of sustainability and there is a lot of focus on working faster and more efficiently,” say the pair. “And what will be the success factor for us in the new year? Well ... that is the quality of our network which always allows us to switch at lightning speed.”

According to the pair, every day is about building long-term relationships with customers. Cees: “For example, we were recently at a customer's site. There was a defect in a milling motor there. Three hours away from there - in Germany - was an important link in our network - with whom we could arrange support immediately. Before we knew it, the machine with milling motor was running at full speed again.”
Niels tells a similar story. “Recently, one of our customers asked for a specific part for his machine. I happened to be in the neighborhood at the time. I obviously knew where I could get that part and arranged it directly with someone there from the technical department so ón our customer quickly had the part. If we had had to do it through ‘the official route,’ it would have taken a few days. Yes, I see this as an important part of the service we as Kruba want to provide. Service has value. If we say we can solve problems quickly, we can, thanks to the personal and business network built up over the past few years.”

“We are not only a partner or ally for the profile industry, who is knowledgeable, but so we are also networkers and advisors,” Cees continues. “That's exactly where our strength lies. I think this has become a valued and distinctive value of Kruba over the years.”
Asked whether developments in automation will accelerate in 2026, Cees and Niels say they doubt it. “Of course everyone stands for innovation. But ... automation must remain manageable. The whole chain must be able to work with it. In fact, at the same time, investments must be made in the knowledge of the people on the shop floor. But what do you do when sometimes those people just aren't there? We too depend on our suppliers who face the same dilemmas. So yes ... the desire remains to work faster and more efficiently and to be able to set up systems accordingly, but that requires a huge effort. And that is sometimes quite difficult when the delusion of the day keeps calling. And that happens because despite the fact that there is hardly any large-scale new construction in the Netherlands, there is still a lot of renovation and small-scale building projects. So there is no shortage of work. And that is why we are positive about the year ahead.”
