Circularity

"In our production, we want to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. The recently launched reuse+recycle program makes a solid contribution to this. After all, we must handle scarce raw materials carefully and reuse or recycle products as much as possible," says Gijs-Bert Drost, account manager for the Southern Netherlands and Belgium. "The demand for circular products is growing and we are responding to this. All project hinges and frame constructions, the ball stud hinges 807 and the sliding bearing hinges 804 and 818 are to the American standard 'Cradle-to-Cradle'. We are also a member of the C2C Construction Group with construction-related manufacturers who embrace and actively promote the circular economy."

Certifire

Breuer & Schmitz plain bearing hinges possess the certifire certificate. This means that, despite the plastic bearings, they are still suitable for fire-resistant applications.

New construction

Breuer & Schmitz recently moved to a new almost climate-neutral company building in Solingen with heat pumps and a roof full of solar panels. According to Drost, this new building is a great opportunity to take the next step towards (the certificate) Cradle 2 Cradle Silver. Beautiful! It all happens then in Solingen, where the company has been active for more than 100 years. The manufacturer believes in European products and short supply lines, which ensure logistical gains and a low ecological footprint.
