Kömmerling Netherlands continues to strengthen its leadership role in sustainability and circularity with the introduction of new, improved life cycle assessments (LCAs) for Kömmerling K-VISION products. These LCAs are now included in the National Environmental Database (NMD) and offer the most competitive environmental cost indicator (EQI) on the market.
Kömmerling Netherlands has always played a leading role in the development of sustainable and circular products. As a result, Kömmerling appeared in 2022, as the first plastic system house, with category 1 entries in the National Environmental Database. Since those initial entries, there has been much tightening in both European and national regulations for the preparation and processing of LCAs, with the goal of creating a level playing field between different frame materials and systems. Kömmerling has worked through these new guidelines, along with all the developments in recent years, resulting in new LCAs that make the low environmental impact of K-VISION products even more visible.
The NMD was set up independently by the NMB Foundation to enable the best choice in sustainable building products. The new LCAs of Kömmerling K-VISION Trend and Classic, with variants of steel and plastic EcoForce reinforcement, have been available in the NMD since May 7, 2025. (https://milieudatabase.nl/nl/viewer/?search=k%C3%B6mmerling&category=category-1) These analyses are more complete than ever and based on real-life situations, following the new European and national and guidelines. This ensures fair and reliable comparisons between different materials. Kömmerling Netherlands is thus, once again, the first system house with a set of completely category 1 LCAs prepared according to the current rules of the game.
Thanks to years of efforts in areas such as recycling, reuse, energy conservation and transportation, the new LCAs of Kömmerling K-VISION products score better than competing materials. K-VISION frames with steel have an MKI of €1.06 to €1.99/m², while the EcoForce reinforcement of recycled plastic offers an MKI of up to €0.61/m², which no other material can match.
Jelmer Bijlsma, Manager of Sustainability & Innovation: "At Kömmerling Netherlands, we are proud of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and circularity. The new LCAs for K-VISION products are an important step forward in our mission to minimize the environmental impact of our products while providing the highest quality. These analyses are a testament to our commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship."
The new LCAs are representative of all official Dutch K-VISION processors affiliated with the Kiwa Covenant Circular Enterprise. An overview of these frame manufacturers can be found on the Kömmerling Netherlands website,
