Polyclose 2020: VEKA innovates with light, color and recyclable materials

At VEKA, two activities took center stage in 2019: celebrating the company's 50th anniversary and shaping sustainable, market-oriented innovation. Of the latter activity, VEKA will show the results at Polyclose, the European trade fair for window, door, sun protection, facade and access technology, which will take place at Flanders Expo in Ghent (Belgium) from January 15 to 17, 2020.

VEKA's history began in 1969 when Heinrich Laumann took over a small company with 8 employees. Under his leadership, it grew to become the world market leader in high-tech plastic frame profile systems for windows, doors and shutters. Now, 50 years later, the international company VEKA AG has 41 branches and some 6,000 employees. The anniversary was celebrated in May with a three-day celebration at the company headquarters in Sendenhorst, Germany. With employees, associates and partners, including Dutch window frame manufacturers, the event looked back on the company's history and forward to the future.

VEKAMOTION: smaller profiles, larger glass surfaces

In the immediate future, VEKAMOTION certainly has a bright role to play. After all, with this new concept for lift-slide doors, VEKA is responding to an important trend among home consumers. More and more people want a house with lots of glass, so that daylight can flow in abundantly. VEKAMOTION makes this possible by using narrower profiles to create the space for larger glass surfaces. Visitors to Polyclose can admire various versions of VEKAMOTION, including a variant in which a pane of glass larger than that in the moving part can be used in the fixed part.

VEKAMOTION: good news for consumers and producers

VEKAMOTION gives consumers what they want: a sleek, modern look and much more daylight. In doing so, consumers are of course assured of quality. Like all other VEKA profiles, the narrower VEKAMOTION profiles meet the highest quality standard: class A in accordance with EN 12608. This means that the profiles are thick-walled, giving them stronger corners and better screw retention. The profiles are designed for combination with triple glazing up to 54 mm thick, with which excellent thermal insulation values can be achieved.

With VEKAMOTION, builders, architects and frame manufacturers can easily meet the needs of homeowners. For frame manufacturers, there is another advantage: VEKAMOTION is much more production-friendly than conventional systems. This is because the Lift&Slide door is constructed from fewer parts. It is also convenient that VEKA supplies a lower threshold that fits VEKAMOTION perfectly. In short, for both the consumer and the frame manufacturer, this is an attractive novelty!

VEKA SPECTRAL: first in color development

The pioneering surface technology VEKA SPECTRAL has only been around for a short time and is already a great success. Therefore, VEKA has decided to expand the color range to nine colors. At the trade fair, these colors will be officially presented to a wider audience for the first time. At VEKA's booth, visitors can see the characteristic, ultra-matte look and also feel the velvety haptics. The aesthetic qualities of VEKA SPECTRAL are accompanied by outstanding technical properties. Thanks to its special composition, for example, the top layer is exceptionally scratch and wear-resistant. In both the private and project markets, VEKA SPECTRAL therefore offers attractive possibilities. Further expansion of the color range is already underway. The VEKA team is happy to update visitors on the latest developments.

Exhibitions and demonstrations

At Polyclose, VEKA will also demonstrate new applications of profiles, such as the unique VEKA wood-look joint and numerous other clever production techniques.

Toward a circular economy

At VEKA, innovation is sustainable innovation. With VEKA Umwelttechnik GmbH, founded in 1993, VEKA took the lead at the time in the recycling of plastic window frames in Europe. The recycling activities have been further developed: VEKA now has three modern production plants in Europe. The fact that VEKA was one of the first companies to acquire the product label of the European sustainability program VinylPlus in 2018 further underlines VEKA's pioneering role in the plastic window frame industry.

All products VEKA markets are 100% recyclable. At Polyclose we will tell you in words and pictures how VEKA achieves this. VEKA works exclusively with profiles made of pure PVC and steel reinforcements. Both of these materials are easily separated in an automated process. Therefore, the recycled materials can always be brought back into a cycle that produces new products, which have the same lifespan and application possibilities as the original products.
