Innovative digitization leads to process optimization

Not only at Dozon itself, but especially at the customer

Innovative digitization leads to process optimization

From the logistics center in Doetinchem, thousands of products are shipped every day to clients throughout the construction column, or to one of the company's eight branches. Dozon is doing well, not because they think so themselves, but because the customers say so. So do the customers in the window frame industry. The blacksmith's secret: expert support and an ease of ordering that is unparalleled. Dozon is therefore constantly investing in innovating all the digital technology surrounding the ordering process. We speak at our offices in Doetinchem with Mark Kuiperij, account manager North and East Netherlands and with Marcel Melgers, account manager West and South Netherlands, both active in the window frame industry for Dozon.

From the self-employed to the carpentry manufacturer

Mark opens the conversation, "We supply every professional in the window frame industry, from the self-employed to the carpentry manufacturer. You're talking about two extremes in terms of company size, with the result that they have different needs when it comes to ordering. Our digital solutions fill that for them just fine. A ZZP'er will have a greater need for processing ad hoc orders, from the construction site or in the evening from home. The Dozon App is ideal for that. A large carpentry manufacturer wants to be able to grab material from stock and not have to worry about inventory management. To make sure there are no misses, for example, there is the QuWiki ordering system."

Marcel adds, "However, the office staff always carry out a piece of physical final inspection. Suppose a customer suddenly orders things, which deviate from his normal purchase, then we just ring the bell, to check whether it is really about ordering something new, or whether there might be an ordering error."

QuWiki provides maximum service

The QuWiki ordering system offered by Dozon has already contributed to a piece of process optimization at many companies. Recently, the QuWiki has been improved. Instead of the existing QuWiki Box, the QuWiki Board is now offered but the idea behind it is the same. Previously, when a warehouse employee issued the last copy of a particular item, he would grab the QuWiki card of that item and put it in the QuWiki Box. That card was scanned and the order was automatically forwarded to Dozon. Now we have a QuWiki Board, where the cards can be inserted and remain visible to the warehouse worker. "Every day at 4:30 p.m., the cards inserted in the Board are automatically scanned and the total order arrives at Dozon," Marcel explains. "The driver can even pack up the delivery at the customer's premises, how easy do you want it? Incidentally, we can also set up work buses on this basis."

Connecting to digitization within the factory environment

Dozon fits seamlessly into the trend of going paperless. "We keep track of which ERP software is most commonly used by customers and ensure that a link can be made with our systems. That makes it possible to work order-driven," Mark explains. "We can see from the customer's work preparation data what is needed for a project and ensure that the required materials get there on time."

New functionality in the App and on the site

The Dozon App is also being improved again. Marcel: "There will be an improved search function in the App and a number of additional features, such as an expansion with a Budget Shop. Customers can set a budget for their staff for clothing and tools, based on a package of items that they put together themselves. They can also choose to have the order delivered to the business or to the user's home. Convenience serves man!"

In addition to the App update, the website is also being worked hard on. The brand new website will go live this fall, with a complete new look and feel and many new and improved functionalities. All ready for the future! Dozon moves with the needs of the customer. Newcomers to the digitization story are also helped professionally: "Customers who are going digital for the first time are guided and supported by us. Sometimes a world opens up for them," concludes Mark. Marcel notes, "You know what's nice? Customers who still come to the counter with an order written on a piece of batten. Well, they obviously just get their stuff and all the advice, too."

Investing in the customer and their stock

Dozon invests in the customer and their stock. "That way the customer never misses out," Marcel explains. "We inventory the annual needs of our regular customers and make sure we always have enough on the shelves. For the customer, this means security. That way we value the customer's loyalty, with a piece of loyalty from Dozon," Marcel concludes.
