You see them more and more: wrapped buildings. Or rather, you don't see them. You can't tell the difference from sleek paintwork, for example, because a wrapped facade is sanded smooth and seamlessly finished with colorfast film. "It doesn't get any tighter," says Henk de Bruin, director of Wrap Folie Techniek, part of Holland Geveltechniek.
What also stands out is that a building can have a completely different look in a very short time. De Bruin: "That's one of the many advantages: you're done in one go. An office building in Papendrecht recently underwent such a rapid transformation. In a few weeks, we covered the entire facade of this blue building with foil. The facade panels in satin white, the window frames satin black. The end result is beautiful, the building looks like new!"

No less spectacular is the result of a wrapping in Hoofddorp, where Holland Geveltechniek covered the former KLM office Hydepark outside and inside with gold and matte black film. Not only the complete facades, but also the entrance canopy, revolving doors, counters, elevators, columns, fixed furniture and the landings in the hall. De Bruin: "It's like standing in a new building. You can see that the building has gained value, especially with such a consistently worked-out color scheme."

Another recent example of a successful visual transformation can be found in Vianen, where Holland Geveltechniek collaborated to breathe new life into an insubstantial building. The parapets received bronze-colored aluminum cladding with a lively profile and the window frames were wrapped with foil in an anthracite color. De Bruin: "We also included the window frames on the inside of the first floor, and the lower plinth gravel concrete was keim painted. This was the second project for this client, to great satisfaction, because we already have a third order in as well. I notice this a lot: clients want more because they are satisfied with the result."
Old glory
Not spectacular, but solid is the wrapping of The Hub office building on the Dr. Hub van Doorneweg in Tilburg. De Bruin: "The dark brown cladding was weathered and did not look good. We sanded it, leveled it out and provided it with brown-black film. We also tightened up the curves. In this way, you get the building back to its former glory with a relatively small investment. The advantages are numerous: during application you have no dust, no smell, no solvents, no paint splashes and you are finished faster. All colors and shapes are possible, much less maintenance is required, and we give a ten-year warranty. Just do that with paint."
