French balcony is rapidly conquering the Netherlands

More and more houses are also being built in the Netherlands with room-high windows. Ideal for the view and natural ventilation, when these windows are applied in the tilt and turn version. It gets even better when these large windows can be opened all the way and a French balcony provides security while maintaining the view.

Bohle Benelux BV has amply earned its reputation for developing and marketing ballustrade systems. From that expertise, the company has developed a stunning French balcony, with the resounding name Lyon. Frank Bouwman, General Manager at Bohle Benelux BV, talks about this aesthetic and above all highly functional addition to the facade.

Safety above all

"Lyon combines the best of both worlds. The French balcony system guarantees maximum visibility and optimum safety, even at large widths. Glass widths of up to four meters are no problem at all. Installation is also well thought out. Our patented 1-2-3 click system makes assembly simple, quick and safe and requires no special tools," Bouwman opens the interview.

The French balcony can be mounted either on the façade or between bricks. A combination of these variants is also possible. "With this, there are no limits to the application. Those who want to mount Lyon directly on the frame can do so with impunity. Our balcony system is suitable for mounting on concrete, stone, plastic, wood and aluminum. Lyon meets all AbP safety requirements (DIN 18008-4) and can suffice with only four suspension points. This saves time and money during installation, which is also not unimportant," Bouwman lists.

Sizes and colors

Lyon is available in the colors aluminum, white and anthracite. With these, Bohle meets the greatest demand for trend colors in the construction industry. "Other profile colors are of course also available, but on request," adds Bouwman. "A self-adhesive glass edge protection is optionally available; it is made of stainless steel. The profile sets come in heights of 900 mm, 1000 mm and 1100 mm."

A complete French balcony comes as a set and includes two base profiles, two snap profiles, a sealing set and end caps. "The applicable glass thicknesses are 12.76 - 13.52 mm and 16.76 - 17.52 mm," Bouwman said.

Quality with rock solid origins

Quality control is a very high priority at Bohle. Says Bouwman, "At our factory in Germany, in Haan, everything produced is subjected to regular tests and checks in order to guarantee a high standard in processing and service life. Of course, this also applies to the new French balcony system Lyon."

The Bohle Group now operates with 13 branches in Europe, China and the USA, making it a leading manufacturer and supplier of tools, machines and consumables for glass processing and distribution. Bohle was founded in 1923 and today has more than 300 employees working in 8 product sectors, including handling, cutting technology, glass bonding, glazing, tools, machinery, glass fittings and surface technology. "We tailor our product range to our customer groups from craft, industry and trade," Bouwman concludes.
