By 2026, all commercial vehicles must be greenhouse-free and classic internal combustion engines will be banned. With their slogan The Future is Green in mind, DUCO is not waiting for this deadline and is anticipating by greening its fleet now.
DUCO is committed to eventually greening its entire fleet of vehicles. The company has already invested 1.5 million with which it recently replaced 30 diesel commercial vehicles with 100% electric commercial vehicles. DUCO's fleet totals 90 commercial vehicles. DUCO representatives currently still drive hybrid. Gradually, the conversion will happen here too so that the entire 100% fleet becomes electric.
Electric driving is not only more environmentally friendly because you don't emit CO2 emissions. Because of their electric motor, electric cars are also more efficient and cheaper to maintain.
Dries Caulier, Facility Manager at DUCO: "The green company cars are not only good for the environment. They also require much less maintenance than their diesel-powered predecessors. Moreover, you drive completely silently, which in times where 'noise' has become the standard, is a welcome relief."
The new electric fleet is also accompanied by an investment in charging capabilities. The car park now has no fewer than 25 double charging stations (50 charging points) that can be used by employees as well as customers and dealers. Here a conscious choice was made for aesthetic, sleek charging poles so that they match the style of the company building.
No fewer than 4861 solar panels with a capacity of 1500 kWp are installed on the roofs of DUCO's company buildings. The power generated by the solar panels is used to supply the 50 charging points. In order to optimally distribute the available solar power according to the needs of the cars at the charging stations, an appropriate Load Balancing is used. An open system that in the near future can keep expanding with 'weatherforecast' and 'day-ahead' prices.
Dries explains: "This open system ensures that we will soon be able to load in a perfectly balanced way. It charges the cars under the most favorable conditions. For example, the 'weatherforecast' function waits to charge until the sun is most present. With the 'day-ahead' function, the software waits to charge at times in the market when the electricity price is lowest."
By greening its vehicle fleet, DUCO is taking another important step toward sustainable transition and corporate responsibility. By introducing the electric cars, the company is fighting against air and noise pollution, ensuring a greener future for everyone. Cause, The Future is Green.
