Dijkema changed hands

On Wednesday, December 19, Karry and Ine Dijkema reached full agreement on the sale, effective January 1, 2019, of Dijkema Ramen en Deuren to their nephew Niels Dijkema. This marks the next step in the development of Dijkema Ramen and Deuren.

Preparation for the share transfer started in 2014 when Karry and Ine decided to gradually slow down. "Now is a great time," says Karry Dijkema, "next year our company will exist forty years. Time for a new phase with a new captain. In 1979 my brother Jack and I started our company in Zelhem. In 1984 we had to look for larger premises on Gildenstraat in Doetinchem and opened an office and showroom in Doorwerth. In 2000 we experienced another move to our current premises at Logistiekweg 28, also in Doetinchem. A lot has changed in those forty years. We initially operated in the Doetinchem area and mostly for private individuals. Now we work throughout the Netherlands, mainly in utility and residential construction, often for construction and contracting companies. At the end of 2008 my brother Jack left the company, but his son Niels joined and he has been able to learn the tricks of the trade very well over the past ten years. We are proud to hand over this beautiful company to Niels. By the way, it does not mean that I am no longer working for Dijkema, I will remain fully active in the coming period, but in a different way," said Karry Dijkema.

Introducing
Niels Dijkema grew up in Oosterbeek and has been involved with the company from an early age. "Working at Dijkema was something I grew up with. On weekends and vacations I helped out in the company. First with sweeping the workshop, washing the buses, and when I was a bit older I was allowed to join in on assembly. My father dragged me everywhere," says an enthusiastic Niels. "I find that I do the same with my daughter."

After completing his HTS technical business administration studies in Groningen and internships at BMW Munich, Reynaers Birmingham, Saint-Gobain Emmen, he gained approximately 10 years of work experience at Saint-Gobain in Sas van Gent, Aachen and Dresden. Niels joined Dijkema in Doetinchem in January 2009 and has gone through all facets of work in the company.
