Corona anniversary edition InterSolution brings solar sector together again

Numerous firsts at tenth solar energy trade fair at Flanders Expo Ghent

On Jan. 19 and 20, Flanders Expo in Ghent was finally back to focus on the solar industry. Think inverters, storage systems, solar panels, mounting systems and related innovations. InterSolution 2022 promised to be a special edition in every way, and without a doubt it was. Not only because this was the tenth edition of the solar trade fair, but of course also because of the extraordinary corona times. Nevertheless, the final balance sheet is impressive: more than 2,500 solar professionals, including 15% from the Netherlands, enjoyed the many fine stands and firsts from 85 exhibitors from Europe. That the trade fair could count on so much interest even in this uncertain period proves that the market continues to develop strongly. And that the fair, after ten editions, has become a highly valued appointment for the solar business.

An online meeting cannot replace face-to-face contact, as this trade fair proved once again. It visibly pleased many visitors and exhibitors to be able to meet again - in complete safety - to discover and present innovations, and to develop fruitful partnerships for the new year.

That was possible for the first time in 2009. That was when networking and trade fair InterSolution was organized for the first time for everyone who comes into professional contact with the solar industry, such as electricians and solar engineers, but also contractors, installers, roofers, plumbers, architects and so on. That was long before the Flemish solar panel market would rise to record levels. Meanwhile, the market has evolved significantly and solar energy is high on the agenda worldwide. Today, InterSolution offers a complete 360° range of solar-related applications and has become an important gateway to the Belgian market or even the Benelux for many exhibitors.

"InterSolution grows with the market", said founder of the fair Delphine Martens. "While in the early years the offerings were limited to solar panels, today storage systems and batteries are an important part of the trade show. The solar industry will only continue to grow in the future, with more and more new applications and integrations, and so the trade show will continue to play an important role in the years to come."

Scholarship offer

Due to high energy prices and ever-increasing climate challenges, social awareness has come down that solar energy makes an important contribution to a more sustainable world. As a result, this year's show focused on energy storage systems to relieve the electricity grid and reduce dependence on the grid, and on inverters as the linchpin in the energy management of homes and other buildings. There were also quite a few innovations, including in the areas of maintenance, monitoring and mounting systems - from in-roof to on-roof, from ground-mounted to floating and from static to sun-following. In addition to solar power, solar heat is playing an increasingly important role in the field of sustainability. Other leading themes included digitalization and automation, from sales to assembly, and charging solutions for electric vehicles. In short, InterSolution showed a market in motion!

There was once again an extensive program of 18 fascinating Master Classes organized by numerous exhibitors. Topics ranged from new home storage systems, tips on installing mounting systems and bipv technologies, to capacity tariff and PV policy in Flanders.

After the success of this anniversary edition, the fair organizers are happy to set the date for next year. InterSolution will then take place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 January 2023 at Flanders Expo Gent. Most exhibitors have already announced that they will be present.
