A look ahead from Jack van den Heuvel

A look ahead by Jack van den Heuvel

For most of our clients, Sjoerd van den Heuvel is no longer an unknown face. More than 1.5 years ago, we started a process in which he is being coached by a business expert to take over from Jack, who has already quietly started to wind down his activities for Stalufor. Today Jack likes to tell more about this trajectory and about the future and continuity of our company.

Handing over the baton

"When my retirement age started to come into view, I started thinking," Jack says. "I'm now 64, so in three years it is time to cases totally letting go. Me am al 43 year active in the world of locks and hinges, so it's been nice for now, too. Every year I reduce my work by one day until my presence in the company is no longer necessary."

"My son Sjoerd has years ago indicated that he did have an interest in my shares in the company to eventually take over. My other son, Jasper, is also involved in the business as technical specialist at Stalufix, but does not have that ambition. Sjoerd has, before entering Stalufor,  already ample gained experience at another company where he was able to specialize in the project department of hardware."

Leveraging existing knowledge

"Many people might think that Sjoerd comes in a bed of plenty, here in the company of z'n father and his associate Theo van Rooij, but it is not", Jack continued. "Just as Theo and meyourselfwhen Stalufor established was, goes Sjoerd soon to a significant financial responsibility. Unlike then, Sjoerd has the advantage of not beings must build from the ground up as we did at the time, but that he is getting into a healthy and efficiently organized company which does business with solid partners. I am aware increasingly to the backpull commercially and Will Sjoerd in his to follow process thereby don't get in the way. I know myself; I can be much too dominant and controlling then. I want him Instead, let certain things discover for themselves.

His ultimate task is going to be from consolidating and expanding: maintaining and retaining existing relationships, as well as expanding with new relationships and especially new activities. In any case, I have every confidence that Sjoerd will do this under his own steam.t strongholds."

More Sjoerd, less Jack

That you always have Sjoerd more often sees, and Jack less and less, is thus no coincidence. Where necessary, Jack still jumps in, for example during factory visits abroad with groups of relations and when the situation is asks for it.

But eventually the moment comes when Jack is going to enjoy his well-deserved retirement and becomes even more engaged with his family, children and grandchildren. He remains then Of course, always welcome to join us, because knowing Jack, he won't be able to resist showing his face from time to time!
