AR app makes the door fashionable

Doors and frames have a great impact on the appearance of an interior. Yet large batches of interior doors, exterior doors, hardware and moldings are also ordered without a prior look at the result.

Recently, the augmented reality app was introduced for this purpose. A tool from Skantrae with which the interior door can be quickly and easily projected in full size in the wall.

The way the AR app works is simple. In fact, it adds another layer to reality. The user downloads the app and selects his preferred door in the AR app. He then points the camera of his phone or tablet at the frame where the new door is to be installed and then the app does the rest. It projects the selected door into the frame, complete with direction of rotation, glazing, hardware and color of choice.

Van Putten: "It is an eye-opener for many people. In particular, the difference between clear glass and smoke glass, for example, is often surprising and makes for different decisions."

Inspiration and Information
In addition to the projection image, the user will find inspiration, product information and the addresses where they can purchase the door on the AR app. "Skantrae sells the doors to building material wholesalers. In the app, the user finds the nearest hardware store that has the door of his preference in its assortment. But the AR app also offers a solution for contractors of large projects. The latter can now refer its customers to the app and no longer have to solve the problem themselves. Moreover, the hardware is immediately taken care of. In fact, all he has to do is hang the door."

The AR app has been on the market for a year now and has already been downloaded 8,000 times. Dealers are also increasingly referring their customers to the app. They have an Ipad in the showroom; explain the app and then put their customers to work. "The app makes the door more fashionable. A good development; after all, it's about two square meters per door in the wall."
