It is wonderful to see how an already perfect product in itself continues to evolve. The 'SkyForce' French balcony system, now widely embraced in the market, is undergoing a genuine evolution. Manufacturer Onlevel GmbH from Germany did not waste any time and conducted a number of tests for the Netherlands in the areas of glazing and installation.
We speak with Erwin Stegenga, Benelux agent for Onlevel. "After the introduction of the system, it was quickly expanded with the possibility of mounting between the day as well. Also the mounting option using drill and screw anchors, applicable on plastic and aluminum window frames was a valuable addition. In a recent test we mounted SkyForce on K-Vision plastic window frames. SkyForce passed with flying colors. The condition, of course, is that a core of steel is present."
Mounting between the day produces beautiful optics.
Onlevel has also conducted glazing tests for the Netherlands. Stegenga explains, "We can now report that SkyForce goes very well with 6/6/2 tempered laminated glass up to 1200 mm width, with 8/8/4 tempered laminated glass from 1200 mm to 1500 mm and with 10/10/4 tempered laminated glass from 1500 mm to 2500 mm. This further extends the usability of SkyForce."
The mounting option via drill and screw anchors was also a
valuable addition.
Other news comes from the unsurpassed Kronos glass clamp (winner of the 2017 Innovations Award at Batimat). "Kronos is fully available with immediate effect," shares Stegenga. When asked to summarize again what the advantages of this glass clamp are, he replies, "Conventional glass clamps work with loose rubbers. The Kronos glass clamp differs in use: the clamp has a plastic interior and can be adjusted to the correct glass thickness by means of Allen screws. To mount the glass, you open the clamp, place the glass and then close the clamp again and the glass is fixed. No screws, no loose parts. The Kronos glass clamp is stamped from high-quality steel, ST500. That, by definition, makes the Kronos stronger than cast glass clamps."
