Your smartphone is the key 

New app makes electronic locking system even more complete

At EVVA, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of high-quality mechanical and electronic access systems, functionality and ease of use go hand-in-hand. The new release Xesar 3.2 proves this once again. This new feature means that all Xesar door components with Bluetooth functionality can now also be opened using a smartphone. All users need to do to do this is to perform a simple firmware update.

Whereas EVVA had already made it possible to operate the AirKey electronic access control system via smartphone since 2014, with the new release Xesar 3.2, the company is providing an appropriate follow-up in that area. It is a welcome addition that makes the locking system yet another bit more versatile, while maintaining simplicity of use. "A quick and easy to perform firmware update is sufficient to take advantage of all the features of this locking system available since 2014," says Rick Baayens on behalf of EVVA Netherlands. "Then it's a piece of cake to conveniently and intuitively operate any Xesar door component with Bluetooth functionality via a special app with the smartphone." 

Smartphone as key

With the launch of the new access medium, forgetting, losing or misplacing keys is definitely a thing of the past. All smartphones compatible with the intuitive app (downloadable in the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android) are suitable as access medium in the Xesar systems. The physical transfer of a key is therefore no longer necessary. And that saves both time and money. "The key is transmitted online and so the smartphone is in fact the key," Baayens explains. "As a result, the issue of key rings or cards can be omitted. Furthermore, it is no longer necessary to write or physically hand over access media via a cipher station. And that in turn saves resources and optimizes processes."

Electronic keychain

The clear, easy-to-use Xesar app is always ready to use and very versatile. For example, it is possible to display all or part of the installation components. Whatever the need, once the app is opened, it searches for the authorized components within the range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). "Then they are conveniently displayed and unlocked via the app," Baayens says of the benefits of Send-a-Key. "Furthermore, the keychain feature allows you to use the smartphone as an access medium for multiple installations. Super safe and also extremely convenient, for example for the maintenance staff of property managers." 

Refresh knowledge

As a follow-up to the new release, EVVA is offering Xesar users the opportunity to attend a special update training session. Says Baayens, "In addition to refreshing existing knowledge about the system, during a solid session we teach the user everything about the app and how to use it via smartphone. Companies not yet familiar with us or Xesar can take a basic training course on this access control system at the EVVA Academy. This will of course also cover the new release in detail."
