Customization....some realized examples

In the previous tip sheet, we explained what we mean by customization and its added value for your company. To illustrate this, we will highlight a few personalizations that we have implemented for our customers.

Placement costs and quotes

In the quotation calculation for one of our users, we worked together to automate the quotation as much as possible and thereby limit the risk of something being forgotten in the placement. As you know, optimizing and charging placement costs is crucial to your profitability.

The initial estimate of the installation costs is generated from the standard configuration based on a personalized questionnaire. But there was more:

  • A check was added to automatically determine the number of kilometers based on the postal code of the site. Based on this, zones were determined for which the surcharge is automatically calculated based on distance. This amount is automatically stated on the quote. For professional customers, this is indicated as a discount upon collection.
  • An additional check for exceeding dimensions and weight now ensures that an extra man and/or crane truck is automatically charged.

Commercial

To make it easier to convince customers, we created the option of developing special commercial promotions through customization. Both internal and external commercial staff work with this, so they automatically apply the same rules.

  • This allows the representative to visibly pass on discounts on, for example, only the windows or only the glass. His commission calculation is then personalized based on the gross margin generated.
  • We ensured that any contribution related to the Peeters Act and liability is clearly stated on the quotation, thus providing a guarantee for the customer.

Configuration checks

 

Specific conditions and test checks were also built into the configuration to avoid incompatibilities, such as:

  • the combination of the outer door handle with roller shutter guides: the door handle is automatically replaced by a flat type to prevent blockages.
  • the mailbox flap combined with the width of the T-style: the T-style is automatically replaced by a suitable type.
  • a check to automatically shift mounting holes when a cover plate is placed on top.

Links to other software packages

Our customization also came in handy for the unique interfaces with existing software packages and the import of data such as:

  • existing rates in Excel
  • customer information from CRM software
  • transferring results to existing software in other formats.

Customized reports

Another possible application of our customization was the creation of a personalized report. One of our customers creates a very detailed Excel file for each project, listing all the components and activities that influence the price. This includes numbers, square meters, the painted surface area of the profiles, quantities, and so on. They wanted to retain the layout and content of this Excel file. Previously, this information was entered manually. Now it is done automatically.
