Prevent thermal bridges between window and building envelope

Airtightness is crucial for low energy and passive building projects, both in new construction and renovation. Cold bridges must therefore be avoided at all times. With ProfileTec and FrameTec from Stadur, you can perfectly meet the increasingly stringent thermal insulation requirements to prevent thermal and cold bridges between windows and the building envelope in areas such as frame widening, the connection of window sashes, lift-slide systems and door sills.

Stadur, founded in 1982, is today one of the largest and most innovative manufacturers of sandwich panels in Europe. The Hammah-based company produces and distributes, among other things, sandwich elements for windows, doors and facades, shower elements for bathrooms, printable panels for visual communication and sandwich panels for the automotive and industrial sectors. The second-generation family business offers a wide range of standard versions as well as customized sandwich panels up to the dimensions of 14,000 x 3,200 mm. Thanks to a wide variety of cores and surface treatments  they can respond flexibly to customers' needs.

Thanks to the variable design, customers also receive optimum design freedom for individual solutions. In 2009, Stadur built a plant in Karstadt/Brandenbrug specifically equipped for the extrusion of plastic panels. The high-quality plastic Stadurlon, a development in cooperation with BASF, is produced there. The plastic base consists of the environmentally friendly polypropylene. The production process is done via co-extrusion and thus allows different colors and surface treatments to be produced quickly and cost-effectively. The specialist is also committed to employee training and the continuous development of new solutions.

ProfileTec and FrameTec

Thus, the range was expanded with a number of new progressive products to meet the increasingly stringent requirements in terms of thermal insulation and the avoidance of thermal and cold bridges between windows and the building envelope. Stadurlon FrameTec can be used for frame widening for bridging gaps and pillars, as well as for mounting shutter boxes and connection of window slats. This solution is available in different heights and in lengths up to 7000 mm. In turn, Stadurlon ProfileTec is an ideal solution for the fixed installation of high windows (up to ground level) and lift-slide doors on concrete floors and the mounting of sills.

Both products were developed and are produced in Germany. In addition to excellent thermal insulation, these developments offer many other advantages for the user. For example, the material absorbs almost no water and is completely rot-proof. The panels are also light, which improves handling, and can handle a load of up to 1,000 kg. The outer layers made of Stadurlon plastic, 2 mm thick, are available in different shades of white and in between is a special layer made of dark gray StadurFoam. Stadur can also supply these solutions on request in a different thickness and with a different finish, for example with a wood decor.

Stadurlon FrameTec can be used for frame widening, as well as for mounting roller shutter boxes and connecting window slats.

The StadurFoam layer can be variably positioned, allowing the assembly to be adjusted for screwing on the different types of profile systems.

Semi-finished products department

Stadur has also been supplying semi-finished products since the beginning of this year. Stadur Composite GmbH & Co. KG in Karstädt had already been producing high-quality plastics for its own use within the Stadur Group since 2007. Now the company is also offering these services directly to customers. This includes high-quality ready-made blends on a PP/PE basis, as well as individual compositions for customer-specific applications.

Furthermore, the company offers high-quality polyolefin sheets with dimensions up to 4 m long and 2.2 m wide and thicknesses between 0.5 and 5 mm, available with different surface textures and in a wide range of colors. Finally, customers can also go there for exclusive surface treatment of different cores with a primer or lacquer and even printing.
