New construction and renovation projects must meet increasingly stringent fire safety requirements. Therefore, the demand for fire-resistant joinery is also increasing. Deceuninck is responding to this with the introduction of the Decalu WESTA FP range.
The single and double interior and exterior doors/windows, tilt-and-turn windows, fixed glazing and fixed walls meet the most stringent fire safety standards and score highly in terms of thermal insulation. They are developed according to the So Easy technology, allowing for faster installation. This WESTA FP range is delivered as a finished product and can be easily combined with all other frames and doors of the Decalu family.
When developing window and door profiles, great importance is attached to energy efficiency, acoustics and aesthetics. In addition, they must meet strict fire safety requirements. Flame density (E), thermal insulation (I) and heat radiation (W) are considered the most important fire parameters within European EN standards. The fire resistance of doors and windows is determined by the duration (in minutes) during which the elements simultaneously meet one or more criteria: E, EW, EI. While E indicates how long an element prevents flames or hot gases from penetrating, EW represents the ability to stop fire and hot gases as well as limit heat conduction through the element. Finally, EI represents how long the element prevents the passage of heat to the unexposed side. This temperature must not exceed 140° C above the average initial temperature.
At Deceuninck, they naturally follow regulations and trends closely. This translates into the development of innovative solutions that comply with all set standards and regulations. With the Decalu WESTA FP range, the West Flemish company offers architects, contractors and installers a new solution to make windows, doors and walls fire-resistant, without compromising on aesthetics and durability. Thus, a fire-safe working and living environment can be created in many applications: production halls, warehouses, offices, school buildings and residential buildings.
"The single and double doors meet the most stringent standards applicable in both Belgium and the Netherlands. They are available in classes EI1W15/EI2W15, EI1W30/EI2W30, EI1W45/EI2W45 and EI2W60″, states Mark Vreugdenhil, technical sales manager aluminum Netherlands.
"The unique concept of these aluminum profiles, developed according to the patented So Easy technology, allows for smooth installation of windows, doors and walls. Compared to other systems, our profiles can be installed 20 to 40 % faster. Double gypsum chambers result in excellent thermal properties. In addition, the glazing clips are mounted on the inside and the asymmetric structure makes the profiles compatible with other systems in the Decalu range."
Just like other Deceuninck products, these Decalu WESTA FP solutions have been technically thought out and developed down to the smallest details. Thus, they perfectly complement other building elements. In rooms where fire safety requirements are less stringent, the fire-resistant joinery seamlessly complements the regular aluminum joinery from the Decalu family. Strong synergy is also possible with plastic profiles of the Elegant series.
"We can present the necessary approvals and certificates for both production and installation, and all products have the necessary quality guarantees: from DIAP, EXAP to CPR. With our standard systems we supply profiles, which are then further processed by the customer, but this fire-resistant joinery can be ordered and delivered as a finished product by contractors and installers."
"In this way, they avoid unhealthy and unsafe work situations, such as dust generation during sawing work in the workshop. Moreover, they must have the necessary certificates to be allowed to produce this type of joinery," explains technical manager Eddy Moreels.
"Meanwhile, we continue to pay attention to the further development of fire-resistant joinery. The proof includes recent tests of the Decalu88 series for standard windows and Decalu115 series for tilt and turn windows. They both meet the requirements for EI30. In this way, we want to be able to continually respond to any demand for fire-resistant solutions from the Dutch and Belgian project market."
