Contemporary architecture with clean lines
FortyFour is a full-experience fashion store for him and for her, located in Beselare, Belgium. The store is located on the entire ground floor of a contemporary architectural building that also contains several apartments and office spaces. On the way to realizing this gem of architectural creativity and functionality, DUCO was pleased to do its part.
The second floor of the property has two spacious apartments and an office space. On the second floor is a penthouse. Each with a large south-facing terrace. In the basement are the garages for the apartments and storage space for the commercial building. A cool element in the bar is the glass floor that gives visual contact with some oldtimers exhibited in the basement.
The store window of the FortyFour ground-floor retail space extends the full width of the façade, interrupted by the entrance to the apartments above. Here, grateful use was made of DucoSun Cubic vertical louvers to keep the entrance door somewhat out of sight. The combination of the concrete canopies and the vertical DucoSun louvers provide an ideal filter/transition to the apartments as well as a sleek line of the whole.

Speaking is Wim Vanacker, architect at VAMarchitects: "The DucoSun Cubic slats give the building its specific look. This is reinforced by the colored LED lighting that was provided at the bottom of the slats in the colors of the FortyFour corporate identity, which gives the building a very elegant look."
The vertical DucoSun Cubic elements were also used for the privacy of the roof terraces, bedroom windows, etc. They create a playful buffer between the street, parking and store and the private spaces of the various apartments. Both from outside to inside and vice versa.
Says Vanacker, "The positioning of the vertical slats was completely dictated by the spaces and functions behind, but at the same time it creates a refined overall appearance of the building. Both in the front facade and in the side facades."
